Cross posted from Jeff's Bat Cave, posted there on July 6th...

We had a blast last night, went to a huge neighborhood party on the waterfront (Chesapeake bay). These people had about 6 grand in fireworks, semi-pro guys to put on the show. It was a very good show, they had it synched up to music and all that.
J. and I took our nephew LB with us, he just turned 16 and is realizing his aunt & uncle are pretty cool for old farts. He can talk to us like he can't (or won't) to his folks. I wouldn't be a teenager again for a million bucks. I digress...

After the main show was over, we went back to the house our friends own, where they had a bunch more fireworks to shoot off. They have a pier/dock, the half drunk guys who bought these fireworks went out there to cause havoc. There were 4 adjacent piers with folks doing the same thing.

All went well for a while, until suddenly... something that was supposed to shoot into the sky blew up right on the pier. Of course it shot sparks into the box of fireworks that was sitting 15 feet or so away. The next part was scary, but ended up fine with only a couple minor burns.
All the fireworks in the box started blasting off in all directions, 5 or 6 guys were trapped on the end of the pier. They jumped in the bay as survival instinct kicked in. Everyone on shore started running in all directions, except for me and LB. We halfway hid behind the nearest large tree and after the initial fright started laughing our heads off. Of course I had to get hit by a flying sparkly thing, I ducked but it got me on top of my head. Mostly bounced off, but LB had the privilege of smacking out the smoldering spot. He says I screamed like a girl, I deny it. :P
The random blasting probably lasted 3 or 4 minutes, it seemed a lot longer. I haven't had a good crazy dangerous laughing event like that in years, it was great!!!
We stayed for another hour or so, helped everyone gather families back together and stuff, peoples had scattered pretty good.
J. was inside in the A/C watching out the window when this happened. Of course I was in the doghouse for not dragging LB out of there, but it was worth it. She didn't stay mad long. We all kept having laughing fits the whole ride home, and I woke up laughing this morning.
I've taken LB to football games and other stuff, but this was the best ever! A true bonding experience if ever there was one. I think he may want to hang out with us some more in the future.

А все из-за недостатка знаний по физике, ладно что народ в вагоне не пострадал, ток же попер через него, через вагон и в землю, если б кто-то стоял одной ногой в паровозе, а второй еще на пероне, ему бы такая же плюха прилетела.

for those of you that don't speak fluent Russian :

And all because of lack of knowledge of physics, well that people in the car was not injured, as Popper talk through it, through the car and into the land, if someone is standing with one foot in the steam and the second for another Perón, he would be a same plyuha arrived.
