Yesterday's fireball in Jefferson City, Missouri, proved one thing...that lightning can indeed strike twice. A semi loaded with ethanol took a curve too fast, went over the top of a road cut, and burned in the middle of Us highway 54, killing the driver and causing ethanol to leak from the trruck and ignite.
Highway 54 was closed last night at rush hour, and today, the Jefferson Street overpass was toasted. The concrete had been in such high heat, that all the limestone and cement had turned to lime. The same damn thing happened about 10 years ago at the next interchange north up the road, when a semi loaded with nail polish remover overturned.
I saw the smoke from both fires. The one yesterday was surreal. Missouri's capita; city had a dark black cloud over it yesterday afternoon, and it wasn't from a Repulbican gov ernor this time.
Picture of the truck burning has been posted.
